Nourishing Women Podcast

Jan 22, 2021

Today we have on the show, author of the Invisible Corset (now available for purchase!) and body connection coach. In this episode, Lauren shares the invisible corset is a set of culturally-inherited beliefs that make women as restricted and uncomfortable in their bodies as traditional corsets did. Wearing the invisible corset, women fear, dominate, disconnect, mechanize and coerce our bodies. When we get free, we not escape the generational cycle of female body hate, we also reconnect to the intuitive wisdom of our bodies.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Lauren’s healing journey and what inspired her to become a body connection coach
  • Lauren’s journey to discover and realize that the invisible corset exists, and ways in which she was wearing it.
  • We discuss Lauren’s definition of the invisible corset and specific examples of the invisible corset in our lives.
  • Lauren takes us through the different feminist movements and how the marketing messages of the day were promoted to challenge them and how now, the ‘problem with no name’ still exists.
  • What happens when we take off the corset, and how do we end the cycle of female body hate.
  • How the current body positive movement misses the mark in this work of taking off the invisible corset
  • How Lauren practices wellness without obsession

*Note: We are pausing on working with Primally Pure at this time until improvements in who they chose to sponsor with and brand integrity improves. I do not condone the dangerous ideologies of an affiliate of theirs and incredibly disheartened to learn about this.
